The Gippsland Vehicle Collection provides Gippsland with an outstanding rotating display of interesting vehicles, cars, motorbikes, machinery, historic vehicles, carriages, trucks, railway rolling stock and auto memorabilia. The items on display reflect motoring and transport from horse drawn carriages up to modern racers and hot rods.

The motor museum in “The Maffra Shed” is located at 1A Sale Road in Maffra. The rail trail runs almost past our front door, and they would love you to drop in for a break on your journey.
Feature exhibits change every four months with each display having a different theme. This ensures a fresh and exciting display for new and returning visitors
The walls of the museum are lined with cabinets filled with interesting memorabilia whilst there are audio visual features such as a DVD showing the construction of “Wooden Wheels”
The Gippsland Vehicle Collection also houses an outstanding display of around 3,500 models – one man’s lifetime collection. This exhibition includes a diverse range of models ranging from British Busses, Cranes, Fire engines, Racing Cars, Vintage Cars, Motorbikes and even a selection devoted to Elvis Presley
One of thr most recent projects has seen the restoration of an historic CP Guards Van built between 1956 and 1958. It is believed they were numbered 1-40 and the Club was lucky enough to secure number 1. Research indicates that it is highly probable that this van ran on the Bairnsdale line. The restoration of the Guard’s van seeks to highlight the importance that the railway played in the history of Maffra.
The open-trussed building of around 2200 Metres is, in itself, well worth a visit. Built in 1942 as a Vegetable dehydration plant it was originally used for the preparation of vegetables which were subsequently sent out to the troops during WW2.
BBQs and meeting areas are provided for the use of community groups and car-clubs visiting the museum as part of their weekend leisure events.
Opening hours are Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10 am to 4 pm and every day through school holidays. GVC website is: https://www.gippslandvehiclecollection.org.au
