Maffra’s museum is housed in the office and weighbridge of the Sugar Beet factory – the only sugar beet factory in the southern hemisphere – which operated from 1898 for a couple of years and from 1910 until just after World War Two.

Artifacts connected to the sugar beet industry are a feature of the collection but there are also dairying, architecture archives, photographs, maps and other documents.
A range of local publications are available for sale.
The museum is open from 10 am to 1 pm on the first Sunday of each month or for groups by appointment. Admission is $2.50 for adults.
